Future I and Future II imagine a close future of Coney Island’s amusement park leftovers. In this dark vision the view goes both stylistically back to the end of the last century, early photography, and to a future of corny attractions, fast food and cheap thrills. Once a place of fantastic inventions (Martin A. Couney’s incubator institute at the Dreamland Park) and social experiments (like the cardboard utopia Lilliputia, the Midget City as part of Dreamland) it is not less commercial nowa- days. But its lack of visionary ideas condemns it to a graveyard of futurism.
